new hair ideas for 2011: allure.com

Someone must have dug this up from the archives, and it wasn’t me! Fortunately I came across it just now! The ponytail is still hot for fall and so is the side LOOSE braid.  If you’re thinking, “my hair is too fine for a braid!”

Try this one..

1. Flip your head upside down

2. bust out the hairspray and spray your hair while upside down.  Hold the can 6″ from your hair and count…one, one thousand. (as I would, SLOWLY)  Use an aerosol spray (open a window) The non-aerosol will not do the magic, it’s too wet.

3. flip your head right-side up and laugh (your hair is standing straight up)  Gently brush your hair carefully, you need some of the tangles and drag you’ve just created to make that braid fatter. Part your hair to the side,

(from the arch in your eyebrow, back. Sweep all of your hair to YOUR best side, braid loosely.  Tie it off with hemp thread, leather string, or a thin hair band (NOT RUBBER)

VOILA!

Do a “DO” on one or two day old hair (that isn’t freshly, squeaky clean) That gives it more bulk and not so soft so it will hold together better! If pieces are falling out, stick a bobbie pin in it or simply let go.  That is perfectly imperfect!

If you don’t know how to braid, that’s another story.  I’m working on that one!
