it’s about safe sex

10.18.11I’ve designated my website for an age group of thirteen and up. While some of my viewers (ie;parents) may not agree with this, I’m happy to share something my mother shared with me only recently. Even if I were a young teenager now, I’m quite certain my mother would show me this risque vs. funny, yet quite appropriate French cartoon.

Those of us who have daughters old enough to get the vaccine against HPV, clearly have an obligation to engage our children in discussions regarding safe sex.  Believe me, THEY are having these conversations already by the fifth grade.
The French cartoon-advertisement for condoms is explicit, yet humorous.  It’s exaggerated and could posssibly leave the viewer feeling as if to encourage multiple partners.  Since we live in a society where instant gratification seems to be as if a chip was implanted in our brain, I welcome every opportunity where I can reach out to any link or conduit that draws my children’s awareness to what I think might be an attention getter.  The French condom advertisement is nothing that our children could not get a hold of by themselves via internet in record speed.  But this time I was faster and couldn’t think of a better way to start the conversation.  I love this ad.  Keep the lines of communication open. Especially if it’s “R rated.”

Thanks Mom!
